 RealPlayer
is the first open, extensible, standards-based streaming media system
which delivers new rich media experiences to users through the synchronization
and playback of multiple media types. RealNetworks also announced
recently that more than 50 leading media companies are providing programming
through branded RealChannels on RealPlayer. RealNetworks also said
that more than 20 leading media companies are providing exclusive,
next generation SMIL-based programming for RealPlayer users. The beta
release of RealPlayer is available immediately for free download.
"With today's broad public release of RealSystem, RealNetworks sets
yet another milestone in advancing the development of compelling Web-based
multimedia and connecting consumers to the most popular programming
available on the Internet," said Maria Cantwell, senior vice president
of the Consumer and E-commerce Division at RealNetworks. "By providing
customers with an open, standards-based solution, we are enabling
a whole new generation of streaming media applications and solutions."

RealAudio Player Plus is RealAudio Player with enhanced components.
PerfectPlay technology delivers near-CD sound over slower modems and
reduces sound loss over weak Internet connections. The customizable
scan feature lets you surf live broadcasts on the Web as you would
surf stations on a car radio. You also get a helpful module called
Timecast, a personally tailored Internet guide to RealAudio sites
and events that links you with everything from up-to-the minute Weather
Channel reports to multimedia courses in bovine eyeball dissection.
A streaming video server allows you to serve audio and video from
your site without your users having to download the entire video or
sound file first.
